I must use the supplied remote to get this unit to work. So that casts some doubt on the OFA method too. This player does not use the same remote codes that other Sony DVD players use. I verified the IRDA port was working properly on another Sony DVD player I have which responds to commands from winsamp.
The DVD player does not respond to commands via the IRDA port. Note that I purchased one of these and tried the winsamp method.
